For those who may be interested in learning how to use this other height field editor.

He used to come around here a lot, when this forum first began.  Geocontrol is great.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Yes, what ever happened to him must have been bad. It seems Geocontrol is highly neglected by most people and i can understand as to why due to it's different interface workflow, however it's filters for erosion are the best i have ever scene. It is unfortunate that there is not more in-depth tutorials that offer a more clear and concise intro and workflow to such a unique height field software.

About the erosion:
The "non-square" erosion patterns Geocontrol creates look nicer than World-Machine's squarish erosion patterns.
But (and a big one), World-Machine erosion truly adds deposition to the surface of the heightmap. Channels of erosion filling the valley with deposition.
Geocontrol doesn't do this, as far as I know.

If you mean sediments, it does all sorts of the like. It is just a matter of using the right filter which takes some work to do to get right but different filters can be mixed by layers and controlled by selection masks. The inverse and sediment filters can add material to the valleys.
