Hi all,
If this question was already answered please just give me the tread link, I couldn't found it.

Question:
Using the fake stone shader I can either apply a Power fractal as surface shader,
or can use a Image map shader as surface shader. Both gives nice results (attached image).

But there is some way to apply both at the same time on the rocks?

The effect I desire is having the stones format of the fractal shader (left) with the color variations given by the image map (right).

Thanks.

You could try joining them with a surface shader.
Fractal -> child layer
Image Map -> colour function

Thank you,
You really got the point. Worked fine.

For me this ticket is answered and closed.

Cheers.

Wow great going on your rocks, this rocks,

Ya I have not got the rocks to work well for me yet either, so I am very impressed with your results, maybe do a Tutorial for us? if you dunna want to share the Tgd file?, it OK with me /winks, but another Tutorial on fake rock shaders would be very sweet, and since you have such a great result maybe you can share one with us? /smiles.

I like my stones' texture here, but what I would prefer is to see some of the shapes you are showing in your work above.  My stones look less chipped and realistic in shape than yours.  How do I create that look to make my stones have more realistic shape?

Hey calico, Here's a file with pretty good fake stones that I never got round to rendering fully, it has water reflections for a wet beach and takes a lifetime to render! I was gonna wait 'till the final release. ;D
Please feel free to play with/amend/render whatever. You'll have to apply your own image maps unless you'd like the ones I've used? If you do let me know and I'll post them.
Regards
Kevin.

Thanks!  I'll try these.  I'm curious to see how you controlled the shapes.   ;D

Any chance of a downloadable text file for that tutorial? The only PC I can use has a very vigorous content blocker, and deviantart is one of the (many) sites that's blocked.
'Sings we a dances of wolfs.
Who smells fear and slays the coward.
Sings we a dances of mans.
Who smells gold and slays his brother.'
Pagan saying.
