Actually this picture is a "coproduction" of Terragen and Vray. But I thought as the sky is so prominent, it´s enough TG to post here too ;-)

A bigger version can be seen here: http://wallis-eck.de/2013/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/pine_on_sea.jpg

I can feel the moisture in the air, pretty nice little scene Walli! The tree looks particularly good.

So the sky is TG and the grass and tree is vray? Is this a simple composite in PS, or a more complex composite in a 3D app? Please elaborate!
It has been eaten.

Great image Walli, I'd love to see the separate elements and a brief workflow chat.

I rendered the sky as backdrop for the Vray render. Then I rendered another version of the picture, this time as "environmentmap", so that I could get the reflection and also lighting over to Vray.
The rocks, plants and water then were rendered in Vray.

Blender was used to do some floating point image editing like tone mapping, contrast and also a light vignette and glow and color correction.

Nicely done,especially like the lighting.

Look really good Walli,
Great sky, water and colours but the pine looks brilliant. Really good job with dressing that tree.

Nice idea. Very dramatic. This is one occasion where I think subtle depth of field blur may have worked because the foreground does look quite close.

Excellent render....might have been better as a palm on sea...
I live on the gulf coast of the U.S. and we have a lot of pine trees but, I don't recall a pine tree near the ocean.
A palm tree would have been better...still, I like the image very much...Walli, I hate to critique you...you ROCK!
So sorry!
Peace!

The dramatic light and composition bring together a delightful image here.

I have no problem with critique, in contrary! A palm tree could work very welltoo, perhaps I should make a little series ;-)

Concerning if this is "possible" or not - I have been out in the skerries many times (in scandinavia) and I know that they have pines there too. But I really can´t remember, if you can find single, large pine trees on such a small rock.
So I googled for references, used the german translation (Schären Kiefer) - I guess this must be possible, because in one of the very first rows of the image search you can see a Brandenburger Pine on such a rock.
;-)

So in case a generation of kids is growing up  and learning something wrong from the internet - I am guilty  :-[

cool image a great crack of lightening in the background, perhaps...

Great image. How did you like using Blender's image editor? I like it, but I have not used it enough to bring it's full potential out.
