Haven't posted in a while...I guess I still feel like a beginner or a rookie among you pros who know their stuff. I just tweak and doodle with very little knowledge of what I am actually manipulating in TG 2.  I experiment and try different settings and have learned to save often as I do use some wild settings that crash the image from time to time....I still love this program and space art....here is a more down to earth image. Its a remake of my "Once Upon a Time" image, named after the Alexi Murdoc song of the same name...if you haven't heard it do a search...its a wonderful song...I believe it belongs in the top 100 songs ever written.
Only post work was a slight sharpen and conversion to jpg.   Thanks, Mark

Wow! I absolutely *love* the moodle and subtlety in this. It's rare that we get to see a darker image that still has detail to find, things to explore, and a real sense of mood and magic like this. Well done!

Ghehe...sure you aren't phishing for compliments with that humble intro? ;)

Cause this is a really nice render. It both has something surreal as real.
I like the way you have made that sun only appear but not influence the lighting too much, if at all.

Hope you feel comfortable with these more "down to earth" style of work, looking forward to see more! :)

Excellent attention to lighting. The details really are adding a lot of depth.

Really really really nice. Don't think I have seen a TG render quite like it. Would look just as nice without the sun too! And I bet it would make a rather nice animation.
It has been eaten.

wow, Mark... that is a killer... end of story!!
Any chance of 1920x1200?!!
this is going to be in my mind for the foreseeable future... thank you for sharing, and I will have a look for that song too!
cheers

edit:
re: the song...you are right... I know the song, just did not know the artist's name, thanks again!
:)

I hope you don't lump me in the group you call "pros" - I'm still like a fish out of water.  But I side with Oshyan - amazing detail in a low light.  Nice work, buddy!
They're all wasted!

Even if you call yourself a beginner you seem to have a good eye for how a scene should be built. Good depth and I like the mood.

Will you be making another one with the same pov but in the morning with mist?  :)

Having read all the comments I went back for another look at this.  With a torch.  Joking apart, I think it has great merit. (My fearless leader was looking at this with me, and she said "Brighten it up a bit." When I explained that one cannot do that without extracting it and shoving it into Photoshop, she got all huffy and took off.  I'm so glad she's better at baking than Terragen).
