GeoControl2 is the only one of the options that works on my OS. So for me its GeoControl or nothing.

I would like to know from you guys what value it has to someone who uses TG, other than erosion. I guess erosion is the primary reason people add these kinds of soft to a TG workflow? I like very much the one or two images I have seen here in these forums, where erosion was a major part of the render. And I would like to add a little very detailed erosion to what Im working on now. I will also try TG erosion today and see what I can get from that.

I looked through the gallery at http://www.geocontrol2.com/gallerie.htm but it was not clear to me if those images were rendered in geocontrol2 or some other soft.

And like TG, tuts are not a focus of the website. So I am in the dark about how I would even want to use the Geo soft. Could I take part of my terrain from TG and import it to Geo, erode, and then bring it back?

Some links of TG renders with Geo control used for some part of the image would be great!

Any info you can share?

Yes.

Thank you!

So was it worth adding to your pipeline (being that its not free) I mean, you get good use out of it and more uses than just one?

Nice image. More?

Some detailed thoughts on the subject?

well, thanks also!
I think for me that is an easy answer, I downloaded a free evaluation version one day on my pc at work, played for a few hours and saved lots of varied terrains at 2048 and 4096 .ter ... so I have a folder full of nice terrains to play with!!
Off the top of my head... Here are a few from my flickr page (my page at DA may have larger versions)

thanks Calico!
@Michael...detailed thoughts...if I needed to use this on a daily basis, I would not hesitate in buying, I find it really easy to use, and great fun to be honest, EDIT:  I just noticed GC2 is mac also... I may well be tempted to fork out a wee bit of dough... It is officially on my things to buy list now!

Thanks Jason!

Just one last question... Why?

Do you find that you can do things in Geo that you cannot in TG? Or that you can do things more easily? THe images you posted, in the descriptions, a lot of them said the geo work was in the background. So Im just wanting to have a little more certainty about what to expect. I think it looks good, I just want to hear from you or someone here a little opinion, which I value.

Cheers.

Hi Michael, no problem at all.... For me I would use 'it' as another tool in my artistic arsenal... the same way I use TG/Blender/CS3/TopMod/k3Dsurf etc etc... it is another conduit for my creative diarrhoea, so to speak!!
no other reason...
it is not that I can do or not do things in Terragen, but more likely just another way of doing them?
In the past with TG0.9 I was fond of making painted terrains for Terragen in photoshop... I also did the same within TG0.9... just different ways!
:)

I remembered a couple of my recent renders too, used GC terrains... some were more modified by Terragen than others...

Thanks man. Im going to try and learn this program. If I can be a fast learner on it Ill prob buy it. I like the idea of being able to paint terrains, the river stuff I saw, and also some extra erosion powers.
