I like Cole a lot. He is one of the people who led me to you guys!
His Matte paintings are really great I think. And he is kind of and interesting legacy artist. His Grand Father (or maybe great grandfather?) was an American Luminist painter from the Hudson Vally School. Although he does not seem very concerned with the meaningful content of luminist light, he does use it in his work. And I remember hearing him speak of his grandfather with a lot of pride.

The note with those concept images in the OP say they are from a canceled project. I am curious if the project was a Halo movie? I heard one was in the works, but was canceled because of money.

Hey Oshyan,

You should write to Cole and offer him a free copy of T2! Lots of his mattes look like the kind of stuff people here try to make. I would like to see what his lighting looks like if he was using Terragen. lol, you should send free copies of the soft to a bunch of famous artists in the industry... ok, maybe a little silly, but what fun if they all started using it and posting here

That's actually not so unusual in other types of industries, that's what I'm sure of.
I don't know about the CG industry though, but despite you may think it is a bit silly/simple, it may actually be a good idea in itself.

It's not at all a bad idea, something we've considered, and even done (in a targeted way), in the past. Often the trick is getting direct contact info for the person and getting their attention so they actually use it though.

I know that he responds to mail from people via his website. And I know he uses CINEMA 4D for his modeling. But thats all I know about it.

Martin, I guess I meant by silly, that it felt silly for me to make the suggestion because its not my place. But as is clear to anyone, when its late, I will write anything regardless of whether its appropriate for me to or not 

Oshyan, all you have to do is get him to see the pro level work people do with T2. Just look at his Matts, T2 is right up his ally.
