You might glance at these and assume they are nothing more than some pretty patterns.
I can, however, confirm that these are the most ancient prehistoric texts, never before seen in the modern world.

They predict the accent of the coming, experimental Human species upon a virgin planet, and conclude with the telling of a self-inflicted extinction of the same, through such Human machinations as vice, religion, technology and currency, to name but a few.

I found them at the back of the cutlery drawer.

FOR THE NAYSAYERS AND NONBELIEVERS:
Here are some fractal-influenced functions on a variety of surfaces.

Scry into these relics for a time, with an 'open mind'.
All manner of pictures and messages will present themselves to those who would see!
So far, I've found; dragons, demons, massacre, fish, serpents, traffic collisions, aborigine, spiders, beasts of hoof, Kung-Fu-Panda, Ussein Bolt, rabbit, lizards and several Jesus...
That ^^ may just be an over active mind that's looked too much, the filename of this big sphere might be a nod in that direction, 'tgout.0346'. And that's from just one render out of the biggest of three temp folders! I see dead people!

Best viewed full size.

Cheers!

that made me laugh :))))

Hi, Ade. Good. ;D

20 second animation on the way... Just need to compress it for upload.

I and eye like it. 8)

Are you able to vary the size of the columns? Are you able to animate the columns at different rates relative to each other?

http://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,14709.msg143328.html#msg143328 for example.
It has been eaten.

For sure. I thought you already knew that TG can do everything, man! ;)

This could quite easily be a planet, a different set of shaders is all that would take. I just like playing with shiny things. When I went to bed last night, actually, I was devising ways to apply this to a volumetric cloud sphere, that's my next attempt.
I also kind of theorised a way to shape a cloud like any imported 3d object, I've seen some previous attempts here at cloud sculpting(J.Mayer, was this you?), where the volumes were being apparently booleaned, extruded, all sorts, there were pyramids with spheres cut out, cubes, arches etc.
I don't think my idea will be the same as those, or if it will even work at all, it's on the to-try-list, though.

I'll give a gas-giant a shot when I'm done cocking around here. Trying to get an animation of this one compressed to upload without degrading it too much...

Dune

I think I have an idea how you did this, but it's nonetheless extremely nice! Great find, now start deciphering  ;)

Really not complexed, Ulco. One sin scalar, one fractalled Voronoi, a couple of transforms, couple of shaders.
The trickiest part was rendering it clean, I ended up removing all shadow-casting lights because the sphere object's terminator had really bad triangular edges with the highly unusual(but ultra-fast) renderer I set up, so the 'shadowing' here is all faked by an extra little node-tree that isn't really part of the main shader set.
I could have shared a clip but since I'm only allowed to upload images/small videos here, it might just need to be a screen shot later...

ADE

i dont know how u do this stuff with all them nodes, each to their own :)))

Cleaver stuff as always, nice to see you posting again
