So ive been trying to find a way to get textures from tg2 planets, baiscly by placing a camera inside the planet and rendering 6faces and converting that to a spherical map. Now this method dosnt work with the tg2 planets or sphere objects because they arnt double sided, the only way ive found is by creating a geosphere in a 3d app with a ton of polys (4-6 or more million) this is a very crude method though. Does anyone know of a better method?.

Have you tried to give the planet a negative radius? I suppose the normals would then point inwards an you would see the surface from within the planet.

huh never thought of that, ill give it a go

You need some light inside then!

yup it works perfectly, just flip the planet, turn off the sun and put a bright light source inside the planet and render

Now if only underwater had such an easy option as underground, heh heh heh

Im curious about this topic.
Can you tell me what you were trying to make a texture of exactly. And how to you use this new texture?

Thanks.
