Hi All

I need help and advices on a new project.
I have a fractal terrain and i add a surface layer (with merge shader)
I want to add some stones. First i wanted to use a fake stone shader but nothing happened.
Then i tried the rock object population, first nothing happened, but i changed  in terrain Tab the sit on terrain to the surface layer.
the rocks appear fine but i prefer the fake stone shader.
I think i am doing something wrong. Do I have to include the fake stone shader in the surface layer node and not after ?

Waiting for help

David, No need to merge.   If using a surface, plug the fake stone shader node into the child tab of the surface node.  Put the output of your fractal terrain into the input (leftmost) tab of the surface layer with the stone child.  Output the surface layer to the planet input. You may need to put a compute terrain node between the fractal terrain and the surface.  You can also use the fake stone node directly in the node path, sans surface node.  Good luck.  -Bill

Or look for sample tgd's and descriptions of how things should be done regarding stones. There's a lot of info here!
