Pretty directly inspired by the famous image by Gustave Dore from Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner.

Not too happy with this yet. I'm NOT going for realism but something closer to his original image.

The mist needs to be thinner, the boat, lower and maybe the GISD scaled back a bit (though I like the effect).

Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

The composition and style is interesting; there's something about the ship... is it maybe too large?

Another version/treatment. Heavily post worked.

The rainbow/halos are from the free (and fun) Halosim. In Gustave's original there is an ice halo in an completely improbable place. Mine are also improbable but that is not the point  ;D

Cheers. C&C welcome.

The link to the image leads to artsy craftsy-whatever that may be- and doesn't show
Gustave Dores illustration.
After seeing the original it seems to be a good idea to go for the somewhat improbable
lighting, too.I mean trying to have the ship coming out of the dark. That should get you
closer to the atmosphere of the o-work.
Just an opinion.
Keep going,J.
