This image is not finished yet. I wanted to make some little path on the grass but I experimented crash after crash in this case of a quite heavy population (here the grass) using painting shader, I don't know why since I have 24 gb of memory which should be sufficient. Once I uncheck the painting shader mask, all works fine again.
Also an another problem : the lake shoreline at the base of the mountains shows a white line that should'nt be there, it is not very noticeable but it is there despite the fact I tried different settings with the water.

This is very pretty. Have you tried disabling the population preview while using the painted shader? That might help. Especially textured preview can cause some issues, apparently. I usually turn it off before making changes to a scene. Not sure on that white line. Can you maybe do a crop render with a second camera closer to the lake?

J'aime ce type de paysage! Peut-être dégagé des arbres pour nous faire voir davantage le lac. Les lignes blanches que tu mentionnes à la base des montagnes, ne seraient-elles pas des réflexions de la neige ou des nuages dans l'eau ?

Agree, a very good scene. I have a similar issue with the Painted shader. Large populations especially slow down the process of adding them.

Antoine

Thank you Otakar, Jo, Chronor for your kind comments.

I have done a close up quick render and the problem is still visible : some white pots at the boundary between the lake and the terrain which is a heightfield (generate) with Alpine fractal shader.
As to the crashes I experimented, I have checked the "show as bounding boxes" in the preview window setting so that it is quite fluid. The crashes occur during the population process of the grass as long as I use a painted shader for it. Is this a bug or not, I don't know.

Hi Antoine,

Can you please email your project file using the painted shader? I have found another project which has problems with the painted shader and I would like to see if your project is similar. You can email it to me at:

Thanks very much,

Jo

great start David... looking forward to more!

Here is the final render. I finally manage to build the path. I  build a new painted shader map and strangely there was no crash anymore.
I have also improved other little things here and there.

Thank you for watching
David.

You did well here David. The path worked very nicely.

Dune

Yes, really nice and lustrous coverage. You can also do paths with a warped simple shape, by the way.

BEAUTIFUL!!
I would love it as a huge poster on my wall :)

Very nice image.
I only would use different textures on the big front trees and maybe put them just a little further away .

Thank you all for your comments.
