This tree is just not catching the sunlight :o
Any idea why? From the shadow on the ground u can see the position of the sun. That indicates that the tree should be bathing in the light but it is not. It might be a faulty tree? Now that sounds funny :D

Object wise I'm a total greenhorn I have to admit.

But guessing you have Ray trace objects checked, the colors are looking strange in all (ground e.g.).
Like wrong/cranked standart settings like light, gamma or contrast which leads to very bright and very dark parts and killed midtones.

Interesting case I could learn from it's solution as such kind of problem could hit myself soon..

This is a silver birch from Marc ...
and there is another tree (different kind) couple of meters away and that one takes the light as normal...

What are your light settings?

Are you using the .tgo or the .obj?

archonforest

.tgo
The light settings are the default.
I just building up the scene and playing with the trees...etc. See this screenshot.
The left tree is okay. The right is evil dark :D

normal
usually translucency is 0 by default.
nothing to do at 10. because it shoulde be from 0 to 1

cool idea to upgrade  ;)
by the way i attach another one  i put the translucency to 0.5 for both trees

Wowow...this is a big change my friend ;)

The trees are getting out of the darkness and....the the color of the leaves looks way more natural than before!

Guess 0.6 or something will handle everything...
