looks like your render camera could be under the terrain. is the small red mountain in your render window ?
if yes you need to move your camera and find another place for a nice POV

Yep, that's it. Camera should be higher or a different POV.

Yes, the red thing is in the window. Should have noticed that. But I don't want to mess with new POV/etc. So will just move on to next trial and error. LOL Thanks everyone.

if you want to keep your POV, you can add a distance shader to your hills or use a simple shape shader limiting the hills area

Or use the displacement offset (half of the displacement value). That should lower the base first and then displace up and down twice the offset.
