Kinda looks like a giant petrified dino dropping, but fun none the less.  In any case it does illustrate the arch effect that's pretty easy to accomplish.  This is only two octahedron shapes, one stacked at an angle over the other.  The rest of the terrain is from a previous scene I did late last year.  I pumped the same shaders as the main terrain into the new shape nodes.

Do these things displace in world or object space, and if one or the other, can one decide which one it is?  Asking as it seems that the object's texture and displacements aren't really lining up with the main ground terrain.  I did do a lot of scaling and stretching of the object geo.

For all of the displaceable object types the renderer sets their texture coordinates to world space (although the planet has options to separately translate and/or rotate the coordinates with the object). I've been thinking about adding an object space option to these objects.
