Is it possible to paint a painted shader on an imported object?
thanks

jo

Hi,

No, that isn't possible. BTW this is mentioned in the Painted Shader Guide:

It is possible. Only the lines you paint are seen on the planet's surface while you paint, but they translate well to objects like this. Don't know how that would be on vertical areas, perhaps paint on a plane? Never did that.

Hi Ulco,

Yes, what I meant is you can't paint directly onto an imported object. As you've shown you can do some stuff but it's with varying degrees of awkwardness.

Thanks,  I should have looked at the docs first.
I was thinking maybe it had changed with the new version.
Thanks for the info Jo and Dune.

Dune

Didn't mean to set you right, Jo, but this indeed awkward way might be handy for some users in some circumstances.

Dune, does that work for displacements / populations on imports?  If so, then  ;D

Dune

Don't know, never tried that. Just experiment and you'll see...
