Foreground is nearly perfect.
Not sure but I think the bird is too small (regarding stones and plants around)
Hope you'll solve your issue

I thought the bird looked a bit smallish, but it's quite on scale, about 30cm high. The rocks are big (biggest 1.5m), so I'll leave it like this, I think.

Ok I looked only the foreground and not the trees.
I estimated the rocks at 30 - 50 cms and the high plants about the same.
That's why I saw the bird as too small

Moody pity about the issue - there was a post about it but I can't find it. The bird might be right but it looks wrong! I hate it when that happens, science or art?

I know. It has to do with GISD, but I thought it didn't occurr with cubic filter, but it does. Only way is to take the fog out
, which I'm doing now.

Taken out the fog, but now it's present in the form of a narrow black line, just where the blur edge is (Depth of Field), just below halfway. Easy to wipe out, but still annnoying.
Detail 0.8 AA 8 GISD 1.5 DOF Mitchel filter 1h 10mins.

Pity about the issue in the first one but the clear one is just as cool, just a nicer day. We had an issue creating fog similar to yours back in Imagine3D days and there was a switch/slider that fixed it. It had to do with resolve depth but it's been so long since I used Imagine3D that I confess I've forgotten how it worked...

moving the plants makes me more confortable with birds scale.
The first background is better (if it has no issue)

So much to like here. Regarding the birds: if the 'scale' is 'right' but it looks 'wrong' what do you do? The birds look too small to my eye as well, if you were painting this scene would metric scale sizes drive the proportions as well? Also, it seems a shame to take the fog out of an image titled "Rolling Fog"
. But having been 'nit-picky' I like so much of this one! There's a mood here that I find very appealing. I hope we'll see more of this one!
