Here's my latest sci-fi picture.  The planet was created in Terragen3 and the ships were created Modo.

The planet and the models looks good but with all those models it looks a bit crowded. Have you tried using only one model?

But I guess it all depends on what kind of effect you want to achieve.

Thanks for the comments guys. I hear what you are saying about it being over crowded Oysterman.

What do you think of attempt number 2 - I think it is much better without the crowds. Lighting a bit iffy admittedly from a technical viewpoint but I think it looks better if you know what I mean!

Is the spaceship object imported into T3 and then rendered? Or is it pasted as a layer over the background?

I was wondering the same thing..............the lighting is off.  :o

SteveR

Yeah, the lighting sucks  :-[

I'll post another when I have it finished. In terms of technique I created the backdrop nebulae/stars, rendered the planet in TG on top of it and then used the resulting image as a backplate in modo to render the ship over it - hopefully(!) with a similar lighting approach to make it fit in - unlike attempt 2 where I seemed to think using GI was a good idea in Modo with a Milky Way HDRI for the environment lighting.

Attempt 3 incoming - much better lighting this time hopefully, but I may be succumbing to a little lens flare. Yes, I know. I'm sorry. It's a character failing  ;D

Cheers for the feedback, will post next day or so attempt 3...

SteveR

Have had another go and improved the lighting I think. This image was also composited in Photoshop. There are 2 images, one with and one without a lens flare. Appreciate I am pretty much the only guy on the planet that likes lens flares but I'd be interested to know if you guys think it adds anything to the image or of it should be trashed.

As always, cheers for any feedback.

I prefer the version without lensflare, i find the lensflare unnecessary. :)

Generally I like the lensflare effect but I think here is not needed. Otherwise I like the improvement on the lightning :)

I concur on the version without lens flare. The lighting looks really good.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Lens flare duly removed. I have rendered a small moon to add to the scene, think it looks ok.....finding it hard to leave the space in the top left devoid of anything! New version below.

Cheers again

Je verrais bien une navette spatiale comme alien predators.  ;D

I would see a space shuttle like alien predators.  ;D
