Needed a place to test out some global crater ideas.
All craters are from combinations of power fractals.

That's a pretty convincing (photo-real) image

Detail in the rocks and general surface work is fantastic!

Nice. But my first thought was that it looked like some of these photo's where the special blur makes it into a miniature. It's the background I suppose.

Thanks for all comments.
The clouds are just very low density and edge sharpness cumulus with no atmosphere shader.
I just wanted something off world looking but I agree it does resemble the blurred background of the focal blur gimmick photos.

V2

Decided to do a starfield and do away with the clouds. I worked over a star/neb set up I had used some time ago, which took ideas from several existing starfields such as Moodflows.

Following my same line of reasoning as in making the craters, I replaced the old Perlin fractals, instead used large (but distant) Voronoi billows to create the stars. All piped to a background sphere as luminosity.

Added some likely grunge to the base of the discarded item. The blue power ring must still hold some residual charge and seems to repel dust.

I like this one better............ :)
