I like the image, but think the foreground (Knight and Horse) could be lightened up a bit.

Agreed, but it has good potential. Some more light on foreground and some light on the trees would greatly enhance this. But keep it dark enough to be mysterious.

I would just make the eyes of the horse red...

Excellent! Now it looks like God is truly smiling on them. (Although if you want to give it a different spin you might play with archonforest's suggestion about red eyes for the horse.

It getting better and better. Is it possible to make the circle of light around them a little softer on the edges...kind of fade away? Just asking.
