WIP stage two, so far this has been a traumatic journey! I was about to do a final render when I realized the river wasn't flat on the bends! so I worked through the night reconstructing the pic! Eventually I got the river flat and in the process lost the landscape >:( anyway to cut a long story short,  I rebuilt it, working through a second night, modeling the landscape with simple shape shaders. There is still much to be done - the large boulders will be removed and replaced with displaceable objects, some of the trees removed and replaced with dead ones and the space at the top left worked on. I shall add some brambles and bluberrys and change the colour of the ferns. At 11 hours (mainly the water) the render on my 6core i7 isn't too bad and by using a test color for the water I can cut it down to 40mins making development times tolerable.

Simply awesome!
Beautiful scenario. I would love to walk around there... :)

I think it is one of the best waterfalls i have seen made with Terragen. Very nice!

Dune

Good job, Mick! I really like it. Makes me wanna do one myself...

that stone bridge is a great detail.  8)
Hmmm... wonder what this button does....

Lady of the Lake

Wow, this is super.  Like the rapids also.

I agree, best TG waterfall that I've seen, well done!  The rock structures are continuing to evolve very nicely, and the torrent fits the terrain most believably. All up, one very impressive image. Although, I am not  fond of the bridge, to me it detracts from the 'wildness' of the composition.

Adding my stone to this torrent... Best waterfall seen with TG.
I do agree with Zaxxon about the bridge. You should make a try without to see a complete wilderness scene

Absolutely 'wow' ...maybe a very thin mist over the splash?

TheBadger

really nice work.

Agree about the bridge. Also, there are some scale issues with the plants it feels.

Hope you show or link the final image.
It has been eaten.

Dune

There used to be a 'river' in TG, where you could have a line carved from startpoint to endpoint. Such a feature would be very handy, though it needs to be more sophisticated; a way of picking some logical starting points from which (perhaps using a plugin) a mask can be derived that follows a logical, slightly widening line downhill, following the contours of rocks, outcrops gullies, etc. The only way to do efficiently now is paint them on the terrain.

Dune have you tried using a painted shader with your road trick?

Many years ago someone wrote a plugin for povray that found the logical path down a terrain for a river so it should be possible to do relatively easily - needed looping though.

Badger if you are referring to the grasses - you often get these tall yellow grasses in the hills, which for some reason the sheep don't eat.  They are probably too orange at the moment though.

Painted shader works but of course you don't need warping.  If you can paint well enough you can get nice flat steams and falls exactly where you want them :D
