Question about Xfrog plants

Hey all, I wasn't really sure which thread to post this in so I took a gamble. My xfrog plants work fine in terragen but when I import any of them to 3ds Max, all the leaf textures have no transparency. They show in view port and render as leaves on square cards with either a white or black background. Could anyone help me out and explain what I may be missing here?

To explain a little more on what I am trying to do:
1) I would do all my final renders with Terragen if I could get around the fact that it does not support transparency. (ie. my objects with transparent maps for glass and eyes and such render as black or white)
2) I could import everything to Max and render with mental ray but am having the above problem.
3) I could render everything in Poser which would save me a megaton of work of having to export my figures from Poser to Max, re-texture and re-rig them, but if I can't get xfrog plants to work in Max I have little hope of getting them into Poser either since it doesn't read .mtl files.
/sigh

Terragen definitely supports transparency, but you have to make sure your opacity maps aren't grey in any way, only black or white pixels (unless that changed recently?).
Some bits and bobs
The Galileo Fallacy, 'Argumentum ad Galileus':
"They laughed at Galileo. They're laughing at me. Therefore I am the next Galileo."

Nope. Galileo was right for the simpler reason that he was right.

Dune

I didn't change, but I guess you'd have to use quite fine opacity maps. There's also the workaround with the water shader for certain things. Can be found in the forum as well.

Hi Henry, which Xfrog models are you using? Did you purchase them? If so, which format are you loading into Max? OBJ? Also be aware that they have their own support forum which may have faster answers about Xfrog-specific questions: http://xfrog.com/forum/

Hmmm...I've never seen this forum: http://www.terragen.org/. Anyone have any background on it? Is it owned and run by PS or is it run independently?

Oshyan

It's run independently. I host it but am not active over there anymore. It used to be Ashundar.com, a formerly popular Terragen community. It's fairly inactive now, but hosts some nice resources. I have hopes of one day turning it into a more dedicated resource sharing site, with better file hosting functions.
