Dune

I found a photo, which I wanted to replicate (though I can't find it now). Didn't turn out exactly the same, but I like some aspects of this render. Others I don't.

Great image, Ulco!
Some minor crits: the plants in the shade look a bit flat. Is the translucency too high? Or the ambient occlusion too low? And the bushes in the upper part are very green. Maybe a little more color variation and slightly less saturation?
Otherwise fantastic!

Kadri

Very nice indeed.
Looks like you are 90% there already Ulco.

Good work, Sherlock! Indeed, that's the one. Thanks, I lost it between all my files.

I like this point of view for a waterfall showing its effect in creating rivers. Very good Ulco. Agree about the greens of the smaller bushes ...maybe more of an olive green?

:)

I'll probably work this out better later, with a more proper river, and better 'greens'.

One other thing, is this a DEM terrain file; or, a procedural one you created? It's an ideal set up for a waterfall.

Dune

It's a warped simple shape, a redirect, and some more masked displacements, and a painted shader river and riverbed, and fall stones pop area, once the terrain was ok. Stones pop sitting on the terrain before the cliff was displaced.

Mahnmut

Great foto, great start on the replication.
Because of the high standards we are used from you I add some crits I wouldn´t have mentioned to a mere mortal:
The cliff looks way smoother in your version and is the part that still says cgi in my opinion. The river below the waterfall could have some attention (althogh I couldn´t make it better, I suspect you can)
Concerning the green: Your dark green bushes simply are not there in the original, but I like them. The light green is even more saturated in the original. As far as I can tell from Fotos, greens are often unbelievably intense in contrast to the volcanic vastness of iceland.
Cheers,
J

Dune

Thanks Jan. I got carried away with the plants, but in fact I should exactly try to replicate, including the rock face, which I admit is not very good. It all can be better, of course.

Oshyan

Oh hey, I've been there. :D

We have been very patient I would say.  ;) :D
It has been eaten.
