A first stab at a concept I've had for quite awhile. Not as gracefully done as I'd hoped but I think it gets the point across. I hope you guys enjoy.

Dune

It's kind of fairytale like. Nice light and atmosphere. I can't discover what the 'thing' on the left is though. Maybe for this kind of scene, you can use even softer shadows, like 5, to make it more dreamy even.

archonforest

Like the idea and the render. Maybe some more fog could make it more spooky :)

Love the concept. Always wanted to do something similar. Pretty good result.

Nice idea.
The thing on the left seems to be a sailing ship.

inkydigit

A wee bit more light here and there or points of interest would make this even better imho... Still great mood and feel...

Just so, with a nice wake as well...I like spooky and this certainly fills the bill. Well done.

Thanks guys! glad you all like it. This was more of a high quality test render than a final, just to see how well it worked. As to what inkydigit said about more points of interest I agree, it's got the basic idea that I wanted but it's a bit bland. To be honest I'm not really sure what to add  :-\

Also, if anyone knows of any tree models that are similar in form to the one I used let me know, That could maybe use a little variety as well.

Speed tree and plant factory both sell trees. They have some great stuff. And of course x frog. All the good stuff costs though, and I don't know if you have to have speed tree and TPF to use their stuff or not. But I know you have to pay.
I think it costs lees per tree than buying from places like turbosquid, for example.

I don't think I have ever seen a tree of this kind for free anyplace at least not a a truly good quality. Silva has very good prices, maybe the best, but I am sure walli does not have a tree like this kind on his site, unfortunately.

To be sure, if you want a really high quality object of his kind, you will have to buy it or make it your self.

On the bright side, you can do both. And the idea in your image would be worth the cost or effort, imo.

Dune/Ulco has some beautiful Cypress trees at NWDA that would be good additions.
