Hi,

Is it possible to export geometry from a "Populator v4" object (pop rock)?
I've read that the micro exporter is capable of exporting objects if raytrace objects is disabled, is that only imported objects? or can it also export objects generated with a populator?

I have attached a tgd for clarity.

Any help appreciated  :)

I guess its not possible at the current version.

I did however get the micro exporter to at least export obj for the scene.

Not sure what the problem is. The rocks in your file and an obj file i imported are exported as an OBJ file in one go from the microexporter.

As far as I know *any* geometry, any object, anything rendered by the renderer that is geometry (i.e. *not* atmosphere or clouds) will be exported by the Micro Exporter, as long as Raytrace Objects is disabled. You can export the terrain regardless of whether Raytrace Objects is enabled, but to get objects to export you will need to disable Raytrace Objects.

Correct, this works pretty well- I've tested it.  What is missing and would be a big desire of mine would be if objects (or even terrains) could be exported with texture maps.  For me, this otherwise very useful feature has limited use without the textures.

What I was after is to be able to export the objects at the same mesh resolution as the wireframe.

Or what would work out equally great, would be to import a low-poly object, be it a tree, rock, or even house.
Use the populator to instance these over a terrain then be able to export out the objects without changing the mesh or uvs.

Is this possible?

No, it doesn't really work that way in the current implementation.

Unfortunately, but I like that you said 'current implementation'...gives one hope for the future.

When it is implemented it will be a game changer.
Fingers crossed its soon  ;D
