hi, im new here and terragen also.
i tried to creat a hard rock like the image attached, but i cant, i tried to use power fractal with and without mask, but its not hard, its so soft and curvy.
in this image you can see the hard crack on the rock.
help me to create that in terragen or another software.
thanks.

 a lot of things...

First, always post a TGD of as far as you have gotten. So we know how you are trying to do things (there are several ways to do almost anything, and they are not going to be equal).
For example, of the possible ways to do what is in your image, the two that make the most sense in my mind are a displaced cube or a imported OBJ. I would prefer to sculpt this, but a cube would be good too.
Plus, if someone is feeling very helpful, thay may want to build something for you, but you should not make them start at zero. It would be easier and faster if you already have a start for them. (that kind of help does happen in this forum a good bit, just not all the time  ;) ;D)

After you displaced a cube to this shape (which in its self is going to take time, and require a lot of practice), then you can worry about the "hardness" and look of the stone.

Use a strata node to get you a lot of the way in terms of, well, the obvious strata. Then, there is "cubic noise" clip files by user "mogan", and that should help you the rest of the way. (but honestly, that will not be easy for a new user, its not "easy" for anyone)

Hardness look will also be helped by color shaders, and dirt clips in various places after form is complete.

I don't want to talk you through the steps for the basic project without seeing where you are on your own. You could be closer than you think you are, or really going about it in the wrong way. Hard to guess. Post your file. (.TGD)

Also,
Have you seen this yet? http://geekatplay.com/terragen-tutorials.php
Your image is not a "basic" level TG project IMO, due to the specific shapes. But you should know the basics before you start in on cubic noises and rock spires. (Just making sure you know about the resources that are available for you)

IF for some reason you need this now and don't have time to do tuts, then clip files are going to be your best friend on this.

Badger (Michael) is right, Majid; a cube (with a soft edge) may be sour best option. Try some redirects or vector displacements with some power fractals on it, and also a combination of 2 strata shaders, both masked by a power fractal, so ther are only patches of strata here and there, not everywhere the same (increase smallest size to 1 meter). The 2 strata shaders can have angled strata, so they kind of inteersect eachother. If you place a small block underneath and a larger on top, and use the same series of displacements on both rocks, they merge into eachother and you build your standing rock. You can even use more of the cubes in a configuration resembling the shape of your rock, then apply displacements to all. It's a matter of experimenting, but you can make that rock!

hi again and thanks for reply, unfortunately my internet connection was down for  days. and also im sorry i didnt know the rules of forum :)
anyway i tried to do that but i cant create sharp edges, i tried to use strata as mask and also displace function, and also input but that doesnt work :(
here is my rock .
i know its so simple but im new in terragen :(

If you add your tgd, some of us might have a go.

^^ yeah, it could be a fun diversion.

Also, I think your rock looks better than you think it does. You are on the right path. I cant tell how large it is from the image, but why not add a strata shader to it, play with the settings, and see what happens. You may get even closer to your goal.

Another thing,
Don't let your self get hung up on an exact recreation of your source image. Nature is random in a lot of ways. Tg reflects that in the way it works. So you wont get every detail the same using fractals. This is a good thing I feel.

But if you want everything exactly the same, then you will have to sculpt it in another program and import it as an obj. But I think you can do this in TG using only TG. IT will just take some more time and practice. IF you are willing to allow for some variation in the final look.

Thanks again, im working on that.
also i created a rock in zbrush and i can use in terragen, but i wanted to create that in terragen :)
thanks :)
