Update C&C welcome.

I like this one much more. Better trees/higher definition, and over al better veg populations. The snow works better in this one as well.

You had a good holiday?

I still think there's a mismatch between rocky highland and trees, maybe these trees just don't fit in such a barren and seemingly really high altitude terrain. Perhaps if you put them in some small patches and add some greens and shrubs there, it will be better. Or just use smaller shrub, no big trees.

Coming to a similar conclusion myself - going to try some different bush like mountain ash.  Yeah had a great time wandering around Dartmoor.  Horrifyingly for this time of year the bogs have all dried up!

Looking better. I thinking that tight clusters of conical shaped evergreens in various places to bring about a better balance to the scene might help.

Like the second one best. The big trees gave it a prehistoric look. The fog along with the snow banks and clear sky make me think of a hot springs area.

I'm leaving this here for the moment as i have other fish to fry.

Just love the colors! Also really like the water in the foreground. All looks really cool and stylish 8)

Yeah, this really did it; it's a super image!

Thanks - I really need this forum to kick me in the ass sometimes and to get the best out of me!

Agree with all, you've done a fine piece of work here Mick.

Cocateho

Really, really liking the last one. very well put together. The only thing I would add, and this is just personal taste, is maybe a few trees right along the river to create a sort of riparian zone. Maybe even vary how many leaves are on the trees to capture the transition of the seasons.  The sky is absolutely beautiful by the way.

I think you nailed it! The original scene was quite nice, but something seemed "off". Very pleased to see you've tweaked it until it sings, without losing the original feel. It still has that sort of "magical realism" thing about it somehow, but it looks much more plausible and complete.

Thanks Oshyan - I needed a push but it was worth it.

Cocateho - The sky was derived from Luc Bianco's brilliant sky presets.
