Supposed to be a quick and simple render, the water took a bit longer than expected... oh well. Hope you guys enjoy.

Great!

Simple but effective. Very airy. It would look better with soft reflections (0.002-0.005), but would even take longer. You could also try taking out the waves at larger distance, so the mirroring isn't so 'britttle' (which also reduce render time), and/or use a reflective shader for distance and only water shader with transparency for front.

Nice quiet simple image. People keep talking about soft reflections - where are they to be found ?

Dune

Just set the reflection of the water shader to zero, add a reflective shader after it and set the softness to 0.002 or so (small for starters or you get patches and need to up samples!).

Odd they (soft reflections) weren't added to the water shader when the glass/water epic went down and we got the functioning Glass shader [thanks again PS team]

I had no idea this even existed. I haven't really messed around with reflective shaders much at all, my experience was they always took forever, but that was on an older system so it might be worth giving another shot, sounds like it could help a lot with certain things.
