Has anyone else experienced this ?
If you open GI Settings in the Render node you have settings for Occlusion Weight and Bounce to the Ounce.
I often set these to 1.3 because I want that look. But fairly often I find that when later checking on the 1.3 value for Bounce to the Ounce it shows that it has returned itself to the default value of 0.9375.

The default value is actually 1. Does this happen after a save or any other specific action you can identify?

I haven't been able to identify when the change happens. It is not just from saving.

I thought the default BTO must be 0.9375 because that is the value I show when I simply open Terragen's unaltered default scene and look at the Render node.

This is rather weird. The first time I double click the GI Settings button in the default scene the Bounce to the Ounce value is 1.0
Closing the setting window and opening it again from the render node shows it to be 0.9375.
Closing and opening GI Settings again shows BTO in the 0.8 range.

Hmm, yes. This sounds similar to a bug in some other numeric inputs that I've seen before. However this one I can't reproduce. Are you running Terragen 3.2?

Yes I'm running Terragen 3   v3.2 build 3.2.03.0 on Windows 8.1

While on the subject. The behavior of GI Settings button seems to be that when you click it from the Render Node window the Render Node immediately closes (unless you remember to click Stay Open).

A minor item,  but could the Render Node window default to staying open while the GI Settings is open ? That way a person could edit the GI Settings and simply move back to the Render Node window to start a render instead of having to open it all over again.

Oshyan

The GI Settings are just the settings of another node, in this case one "hidden" inside the Renderer node itself, so it behaves the same way as when you open any other node window: it closes the previous one and opens the new one. The way to avoid this is to enable "Stay Open" for your node, of course.

Anyway, very strange that this problem is occurring only for you. I'll see if Matt has any ideas...

Matt

If the value is 1 or above, a mouse click in the slider will change it to 0.9375. Two clicks make it 0.875. Dragging in the slider can make it move by larger amounts.

Now, by coincidence, after clicking on the GI Settings button the GI Settings window opens up in a position where the mouse might be right over this slider. So I think your mouse button might be on the way out... or maybe you are double-clicking on the button?

Just because milk is white doesn't mean that clouds are made of milk.

Thanks, that seems to be the answer. The GI Settings window opens with the pointer positioned over the slider area and I typically use a double click by habit. It takes a double click to open the Render node on my system. I didn't even realize the GI settings button would open with a single click.

Oshyan

Nodes open with a double-click, but all buttons only take a single click. Interesting resolution to this one! :D
