* It's not actually Stonehenge, just a bunch of rocks in the shape of a stone henge, Emmeline. ;)

Great  and as previously said, thought provoking image Martin...agree with Jason and mhaze...been trying to do those since Imagine3D daze...care to share a clip...?

I can't imagine the airplane trail(s) being 'just a fractal'. Some of them, yes, but not the thin ones. Would you please elaborate, deny or confirm? Just curious.

Hi, Ulco. Yes, it's just two fractals. One is 'old trails', one 'new trails'.
Both stretched by X/1000, each fed into *both the input and shader* ports of a Transform Shader(with the shader input rotated by Y 90), fed into a Fractal Warp and finally, rotated by another overall Y Transform to take away the 0/90 degree pattern.
There are, as I said, two chains of these trails, old and new, combined via two Surface Layers positioned at the end of each chain.
Each Fractal warp Shader is at very different scale and large warp/small warp is applied to 'old' and 'new' fractals respectively. I used the final Surface Layer as the cloud's Density Fractal.

I'm at work just now but I'll update later with a better illustration of the cloud network. :)

I look forward to the update and network view.

Yes chem trails we have them every day here in Phoenix. They contain aluminum oxide, boron and a number of other chemicals the government is spraying on us. Weather control? My take is that it is some kind of defense against the EMP  (electro magnetic pulse). This can either be a natural event caused by the sun; or, manually by exploding a missile 20 miles above the earth - either of which will knock out all the transformers throughout a country. Just think; no power, no refrigeration, no fuel at the gas stations. Life within 60 to 90 days would cease to exist. The Russia has such a device.

Here's a screen capture for the trail nodes.
Fractals of scales - 1000,1000,100m, noise stretched by 1000 in X.
The top Transforms translate/rotate the shader input by 128,000/90°, making a criss-cross.
Warpers. Left chain warp scale - 128,000(old trails). Right scale - 250(fresh trails).
Lower Transforms rotate the combined, warped fractals off 0/90° axis.
Surface layers just carry the above.

Final Surface Layer preview attached here, too.

Null Shader does nothing but make the cloud-layer node small again in the main network view. In stead of the big wide node size it's recently become. ;)

In my opinion, regardless of what's in them and whether they're sprayed purposely, or not, they're still visibly verifiable cloud-seeds.
Said clouds, made of spent jet fuel(optimistically) or, purposely manufactured chemicals(pessimistically),  then turn to rain that falls on me and mine. And all of you and your's.

Nice!

bobbystahr

No matter what they are chemical and trails and do fall on all equally...scary shit to contemplate.

dandelO, nice work! I wondered if even the thin trails were procedural, nice to see that they are, and I expected nothing less from you. :D Seeing this image I am suddenly realizing that though we see contrails everywhere in real life, we seldom (if ever) see them in TG images. I suppose perhaps TG is the world as we would *wish* it to be...

Also, why do we look for such extreme explanations for this phenomenon when very simple, clear, scientifically plausible explanations are quite rational and satisfying?

"Contrails (/ˈkɒntreɪlz/; short for "condensation trails") or vapor trails are long, thin artificial clouds that sometimes form behind aircraft. Their formation is most often triggered by the water vapor in the exhaust of aircraft engines, but can also be triggered by changes in air pressure in wingtip vortices or in the air over the entire wing surface.[1] Contrails are made of water in the form of a suspension of billions of liquid droplets or ice crystals."

You can test major elements of these proposed explanations yourself, in fact. Combustion of petrofuels results in water vapor as a major exhaust component (ever see water drip out your car's tail pipe?), exhaust also contains aerosols/particulates around which water vapor can condense (see: exhaust from a big rig truck), and condensation happens faster and more readily at cold temperatures or at the interface between hot and cold (see: bathroom mirror fogging, condensation on cold glass on a hot day). Honestly this is almost at the level of common sense...

And that's the last I'll say on the subject. No more politics in the Terragen area of discussion please. If you *must*, do it in Open Discussion, but we also strongly discourage it there too (i.e. in general). :D
