This started with a terrain that I found in my zips called Spear Canyon and the terrain is Spear Canyon~ajj~trnf.ter. I couldn't find the view in their render but I explored a bit and found this cool spot so had a play. A nice Sunday doodle if I do say so myself.

Indeed. I would, though, change the clouds a bit, they're very hard and 'eroded' Perhaps increase the noise variation, buoyancy and clumping...

I like the view the mood and the terrain.

Perhaps if you try Dune's suggestions you can give it perfection.

I'll give that a go Ulco...extend it into Monday doodle....

Right you were Ulco...thinner clouds brightened it up a fair bit...I notice you didn't comment on the grass...guess I'm getting a handle on the old Grass Clump. I found that for a colour blind dude like me the Presets are very handy, to wit: I used the Grass Layers to colour the Clump and a grey to black PF to vary it a bit.

I've re built it in TG2 as I long for more variation and higher resolution...it will be a while as it's gonna be larger as well. There was nothing TG3 specific so it was all population work.....Also researched the White Fir and in N America it favours the Sierras so I may go for a more desert look...Jack Pines and Incense Cedar share the habitat so I'm hopeful of a fine varied scene.

So 5 hours into the render I go online and find out how freakin tall these trees are so the barn needs resizing and I guess this is for overnight now...sigh...rookie error

10 hours and counting on the revised render....sigh, some day I'll have a real and fast computer...this dell is sucking big time compared to my old acer.

So.......3 tree pops Incense Cedar adult, (40–60 m), Coulter Pine young, (10–24 m )I used the young one here because you need young growth as well, and Abies_concolor_White Fir adult, (25–60 m)  with a Grass Clump interspersed with Walli's Dry Grass 6...the Coulter standing in for the Jack Pine which I don't have but they appear similar and have similar habitat. I think that the "derbarn" is still a wee bit large. I may have another go at this in the future and start by scaling every item in Mr Lamppost's 'scaling' .tgd...I always forget to do this till I'm almost finished an off scale render....sigh. Certainly don't practice what I preach in that regard as I've recommended it many times here and elsewhere.....
At this scale the repainted road disappears but there are hints in the shadows if you look hard.
Sorry for the load time but it's quite large(for me)

Way to go, Bobby! Very cool render. So if you want a dirt road in here, why not lay a warped simple shape across in a nice and appealing way and mask the grass/trees out there?

Thanks Ulco and nah, there's a Painted shader road there but at the scale it kinda disappears...It's a derelict barn so a disappearing road is appropriate I think.

And as it turns out the barn is still twice as large as it should be so I doubt an old road scaled to that would even show up...I did a scaling tgd with Mr Lamppost's grid setup.

Looks great, Bobby! And to me the barn doesn't look too large at all.
