After seeing some ST tutorials (thanks Doug!), I got some extra insight in ST, and put it to practise. Amazing software, extremely versatile!

Impressive, any chance of a link to the tutorials?

The thing I mostly learned is to use the dials. I have the crazy tendency to strive for round numbers (also in TG), so I typed every change, but that's nonsense of course. One thing pleased me; he does a few things a bit cumbersome, which I do quicker; like adding another pivot or handled pivot in the graphs; just doubleclick, no need for calling a menu.

Nice work Ulco, that's a great tree!

It's a series of 13 videos from DigitalTutors with Rob Meyers, who is an ILM artist and Speedtree expert user.
They're fairly short (6-8 minutes), but the best resource I've seen on the internet, and free!

Nice tree Ulco :)
I like the parts where you use different bark materials to mimic dead/missing bark.
The transition might be subject to a bit of improvement, but I think it's all still part of the learning curve as we speak.

That is a quite a fallen tree shape and the texture work looks very good.

Thanks all. I've got to get the transition bark/dead better, I know. This was a simple method, but open to refinement, hoping to do it all within ST.

AP

The bark transitions needs breaking up along the edges?
