I added a quick lens flare to compare the two.

I think the lens flare is too bright......takes away the attention....

Great work. It's fantastic to see more depth in the clouds at this lower altitude than you usually do. I've seen those lines before. In fact I think I saw a faint line in one of your previous renders. I don't know for sure what the problem is but yes, I'd guess it's GI.

Man, that looks really cool and realistic. I would love to see a tutorial.

Well, after rendering half of the image over night with no GI the lines still show up. Old_baggard, if you send me your email I'll send you the file and you can see if your version can fix any of these problems.

I'm sure everyone here would like to help you fix the line problem.  ;D

I got rid of the lines in the clouds but the rim of the atmosphere got some odd lines in it - I tweaked a couple of settings that will hopefully fix that.

Got it.  The lines in the clouds were acceleration cache, as I suspected, and the little bands I was seeing in the sky remain unexplained - they were there and then they weren't anymore :P.  It will be done by tomorrow morning and I'll post it then :).

Great. Thanks a lot, I'll be looking forward to it.

This is fantastic! The mix of larger thunderhead-type clouds and other types is really excellent. Well done. I would have guessed the problem with the lines was the acceleration cache. It might be helpful for us at Planetside to have this scene for debugging, so if you'd like to email it to me that would be great. oshyan AT planetside.co.uk

Thanks!
