99.5 hours to render. I'm not happy with the smaller clouds in the lower right hand side. They're are too sharp. But anyway here it is none the less. Comments and critiques welcome.

Damn if you wrote some nasa code numbers in the bottom left this would go a LONG way before anybody realised it was CG, in fact if it wasn't posted here no one would ever know. This level of realism is actually getting pretty scary. How did you achieve the "swirly-ribbon" clouds across the centre and mid bottom of the image. This is ridiculously good. Mind you 99 hours, thats gotta hurt! Are you planning on sharing the clip or is this for your private collection (certainly wouldn't blame you, you done a heck of a lot of work to get here).

Keep it up

Richard

Ps have you tried this with a sunset shot yet, your getting so close to the ISS image you posted earlier.

I like this, though the middle clouds seem a bit powdery.  Not sure about the actual realism, but it still looks pretty real.  Haven't been up there lately.   :P
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

The world is round... so you have to use spherical projection.

Pretty amazing work here! I think probably your best to date. I agree it would be awesome to see a sunset version. ;D

Goodness, that is gorgeous.     :)

:o  Verrry nice. I don't think the clouds in the lower right are too sharp. You might have intended a different effect but they're not unrealistic. If you look through some of the landsat imagery you will find clouds that really are that sharp.

Thank you all for your comments. cyphyr, the "swirly-ribbon" clouds are achieved through a techique the FrankB shared by using a redirect shader and a warp shader on the cloud fractal. I think I will share it but just not yet. There is still some more things I want to do and try to work out. Also, I've been thinking about a sunset shot. I just need to find a good angle enough time to render it.  ;D

Well.. you beat my 83.52hrs render for Ocean VI.

Awesome earth view however...

looks very nice although I think some of the clouds on the bottom left look like cigarette fumes and perhaps too smooth and too long from such an altitude.
