They haven't. Even on their own Fiber Optic network (Google Fiber) they have 150-170ms latency. Imagine that with routing issues, distances, and other ISPs.
This whole idea of this service won't be viable until there is a global satellite system with Wifi/5G (not traditional wifi). That will shed all network congestions as the whole network will be standardized for speed. No variance between lines and ISPs. Even on 4G I get 80-150ms latency (rural), and 5G has been shown tested with a 8-20ms latency in city so that's on par with physical lines,
especially when you factor in network issues, congestion, etc, where the average US ping is 80-120ms.
