Just been playing around with your wheat object sonshine. This is a very nice object, what software did you create it in?

Actually i'm having problems with this object. If I load the Wheat object into TG2 and then try and save the project it crashes the software. If I then try and open the project I get an error message. This happens if i'm using it in a population or just on it's own. I even loaded TG2 from scratch, loaded the object and then tried to save the project without doing anything else and it crashed, so it can't be anything else in the scene. Anyone got this problem? i'm using the PC version.

I've attached an example project that crashes when you try and load it up.

The attached .tgd does not include the object. What is the path to the object on your computer? Does it include any non-English characters or special accents?

Dark Fire

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone know what Microsoft does with information like that sent off in error reports? Is it archived in some way? If it is, I'd love to be able to look for error reports I've generated when testing my own software... :D

The model was originally created in X-Frog 3.5 demo. But I was never really happy with it. I imported it into Cinema 4D and fixed the things I didn't like, exported it to a .3ds file and ran it through PoseRay to get an .obj file that TG2 liked (it doesn't seem to like the C4d export to .obj)

I know it is a round about way to get there but it worked. :)

Hi Oshyan,

I'm not at my home computer at the momnet but I have a folder structure like this.

<User folder>\documents\Terragen files\

So the project will be saved in

<User folder>\documents\Terragen files\projects\field\proj1.tdg

and the object will be saved in

<User folder>\documents\Terragen files\objects\grass\wheat03.tgo

The object is called wheat03 so does not contain any non english characters and neither does the path to the object\project file as you can see above. I've tried to load the object into TG2 and resave it but it made no difference. All my other objects are saved in the same subfolder and i've had no problems with these objects in the past.

I've just downloaded the free preview version here at work and installed it on an xp machine. The file saves ok on this machine so it's something on my home vista computer. When I get home tonight i'll have a play around and make sure my other plants still load in ok.

Just wanted to add what was causing this problem in case anyone else comes across this.

When Oshyan asked if the path contained any non-English or special accents I checked the folder path. The wheat was stored in a folder called "grass & wheat". Renaming the folder to "grass and wheat" has stopped the software from crashing. So the simple rule is don't use the & sign in folders if you want to access them in Terragen.

My photo is very similar
