I've been meaning to render this for a while and I finally got a chance over the Thanksgiving break, so here it is. Great object Ogre, I really like it and I'm looking forward to incorporating it into some more images.

I like the atmosphere on this one although at this height you dont see so much of the clouds that are on the top....and the plane could be a little smaller to imply the scale more effectively and the snow clould be a little smoother....

nice job overall

Ha, on 1024X768 I was only looking at the left two-thirds or so of the image and thought 'Gee, why did he leave that block of terrain unrendered?' Then I scrolled over and saw that it was a plane. So...maybe you should have more light on the plane? :P
You know what's worse than not being able to do anything right or make anything good? Not being able to blame it on anyone but yourself.

You can have an idea of the apperance of the atmosphere at 26+km (80,000+ft) watching the first part of this http://youtube.com/watch?v=FYsMli570K8 video. At that height you are, to all practical purposes, in space, so the sky is pitch black and all the clouds are at least 15km (45,000ft) BELOW you...

I like everything except the model and I would like it to have more texture, lighting.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

It's actually a great model, it's just that the SR-71 was designed not to necessarily stand out visually (not in terms of its shape but its paint finish, etc.). A different lighting angle might help, but personally I'd prefer a subtle specular effect and a slightly higher camera angle looking down a little on the plane so we see its wings and the specular highlight can give us a better impression of its shape. This would be a subtle way to outline the shape while maintaining the existing lighting and composition. Cool scene as-is though.
