hey, i was wondering what you guys thought about this:

potential or giveup? (;

The detail on the terrain is really good :).  The clouds look nice, too.  With a little more variation on the surface you would have a really top-class image.

variation as in the terrain or the texture? I'm kinda new to terragen 2; have had it for a long time, but never really made anything in it before now so im not sure how to import textures, or rather where to import them, but i'll figure that out soon enough... thanks for commenting though (:

overlordchuck

Wow, those are some pretty mountains.

dhavalmistry

there is a high possibility if snow at this height....

the mountains look great....just need some texturing....

The overall shape of the mountains are nice. There is a real sense of scale. Perhaps if you can find a way of twisting the strata a bit by not keeping it entirely straight. Don't ever give up as this has much potential.

Seth

some snow and it wil be some kind of masterpiece ;)

Great image. Like the others I think a little snow and /or some variation in the the rock colour would improve it some.

crosseout

thanks for all the suggestions and comments (: I forgot to save this project, and it was at a stage were I had no idea how to apply surface layers like snow... I was actually asking if I should keep on using terragen at all, but I guess you answered that. As I said thanks, and i'll keep the suggestions in mind for another one (;

I love the terrain, the clouds and the lighting.  I like the shade of green.  Very nice.  Keep on popping them out.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

I really like this image. I'd say that if you add snow, it should be very minimal and used sparingly. If anything changing the strata to be a bit more varied and adding a touch of color variation (very very slight mind you) would really set this image off. I especially like the cloud layer btw.

hey, im back with another one:
http://crosseout.deviantart.com/art/Peaks-71248852

i'm not as happy with the result this time, does not look as photorealistic, but oh well...

also, here is the same in black and white:

edit: I guess I should say I did some postwork in photoshop to make the sky look darker and give it a more blue tint rather then the red in bw (;

NWsenior07

Even if the photorealism isn't quite there I'd still say that the image as a whole is good. It gives a very good sense of starkness. Some texture variations would be good but not entirely necessary from an artistic point of view.

dhavalmistry

like I said before...the mountains are really good...the POV here is better than the first one...little more surfacing and you are set!

thank you very much, but I am a noob at terragen, so ehmm... feel kinda silly asking this, but whats pov?
another thing about textures I was wondering is if the textures needs to be repeatable or if it can be pretty much any pictures of stone or something?
and, last, is there some kind of option that boosts the photorealisticness. When I render images the photorealisticness varies a lot...
