this is a sample of fake grass done using functions...

I didnt wanted to post it because it its not complete....

moodflow managed to render past the point I was able to render....

I will post the clip file later.....

Interesting idea. This might lead to decreased render times.

lol...this aint reducing any render time....it is definitely adding render time....

may be moodflow can answer the render time question....

That's another nice grass look.  You're really doing well with this groundcover vegetation.

There was already somebody else who did work on function-based grasses and I think these look a lot better, isn't it only for the chosen colors. These fine displacements must take quite some time to render properly and also needs pretty high detail and AA settings I guess?

Hi All,

I rendered the image on 2 cores at 640x480, and at about the 25 hour mark, it crashed.  Either way, this is definitely some nice looking grass - nice work Dhaval!

Hopefully the crashing (and artifacts) will be resolved on the next update.
