While playing around with populations, I came across a method for creating asteroid belt like formations, Unfortunately TG2 can't produce good rocks still, so I've used my own rocks which when repeated are not varied enough to achieve a very realistic effect. Still It's a start.

Also included a "human asteroid belt" for laughs and just to show that any object can be placed in a circular plane.

Comments welcome.

wow...very nice....I tried something like this a while back but unfortunately....I ran out of luck!

Nice work!

It's good to see there are ways to get this done!

Very cool! I gotta ask: How did you do it?

lol I love the human one... it's very... Silent Hill 2-ish.

I'm interested in knowing how you got the humans to be pointed in that circular shape; normally (at least as far as I know) they would be facing every which way unless you set a very specific constraint.

The trick to circular/doughnut shaped placement of objects is to apply extreme values to the object translate inputs
e.g. -16394, 0,  -4.66938e-011. Then adjust the scale of the object upwards and play around with the values for object pop scale. values down as low as .2 min .2 max give good results. But play around as these values can give squares, circles, rings etc. Also try changing the obj rotation settings from defaults of 0, 360 . This will give you arc shapes etc.
I'll put a very basic .tgd showing all the above at work in the shared files folder. Enjoy. (Just substitute the obj for one of your own if you don't have this one).

Thanks for the file (see file sharing) nice find, but the theory
could use some refinement imo. ;)

It's easy in Bantam Grass you have two options one is to make grass and the other rocks.

Seems like we've seen Bantam Grass around here somewhere...
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?
