No, I haven't given up on TG2 and I hope this photo is inspiration.  Took it in the Autumn.

I'm going to dedicate this thread to anyone who wants to try to mimic these clouds or at least come close or come up with various patterns that mimic the real clouds from around the world we have actually seen.

This is my first offering.  Comments are always welcome.

This isn't exactly what I wanted, but close.  I'm wishing for some more rotund clouds in the middle.  Have tried Fake Internal Scattering increases, while raising the GI quality and detail.  Ideas and comments are welcome.

Render time was 24 hours.
