He's about to make his own Bucket List, so is this a surprise?
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

The world is a bit safer now, since we have one less commie in it. Communism, like apologist lefties and bleeding heart liberals is social utilitarianism gone airy and is as any free thinking center right individual is fundamentally dangerous and children (Pre-Schoolers) should be indoctrinated to that effect. To that end they should also be  educated that there are these things called Unions and that all unions are evil, that the term "Scab" is a hollow, meaningless thing that they should pay no mind to, that it is OK to work during strikes and cross picket lines and encouraged to learn the ways of union busting.

As to where I stand in political terms I shall say that I am just slightly left of Andy Warhol and slightly to the center right of Attila the Hun.

If I had the opportunity I would have done all I could to aid and support Joseph Raymond McCarthy in his efforts, as I tend to suspect every thing until proved other wise any way but thats what you get when you are a born skeptic (With a hard "k") and was told by one of the staff at school I should consider going into Social Engineering for a living.

Well thats what I think on the whole subject, it ain't pretty (But thats life) and to those who say life's a beach, my come back to them is with that old stand by "Whats with all the Hub Bub, Bub?".

Regards to you.

Really. Then you, sir, have revealed youself as an intolerant practitioner of revisionist history.

And as for the rest of your rant, I would remind you that however the Castro regime turned out, it was the product of a popular revolution supported by the vast majority of Cubans (the vitriol of the exiles in Miami notwithstanding). That revolution would not have had the popular support it had, and would not have succeeded, if the regime it supplanted had not been totally corrupt and abusive.

I think you need to spend a little more time studying history and a little less time at Young Republican meetings.

A good movie to see about the McCarthy era is the one with DeNiro - "Guilty by Suspicion".  Good people's lives were ruined because of a Fascist idiot.

So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

This might just be stupid fun, but maybe you care - http://www.politicalcompass.org/index

Wasn't McCarthy that Disillusioned Alcoholic Senator from the 50's?

I got the following -

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -4.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.85

Almost the same as Gandhi!

There must have been some mistake...

;D    ;D     ;D

I haven't taken it for awhile, but I think it changed a little every time I have taken it.  I'm about there as well, Harvey.

Yeah, a lot of the questions seemed like a total crap shoot - they were impossible (for me, anyway) to respond to in a 'agree/disagree' format. But what the hell.

:)

rcallicotte

That's why I said "might just be stupid fun".  I'm not sure how scientific it is...

Revisionist history, thats an interesting term and no exactly what I had in mind! The fact that what became communism after the October Revolution is really the corruption of the intent of the teachings and philosophy of Carl Marx (Hence Marxism), that is to say that the state works for the people and the people work for the benefit of the state which in turn makes them better. This is fine on paper, it dose not however account for the self interests of man and so an idea that could have been one of the greatest social experiments in history, became one of the worst (The other the comes to mind is National Socialism) with the long bread lines, almost empty shelves, more than half the average income going to the state and the rest.

If I have bias then it has been stated, further more I say what I think and if it is well received or not thats by and by as far as I am concerned; I am not an apologist never have been and don't ever intend to be.

As to me studying more history, thats fine I love history, any way I'll run that idea up the flagpole and see who salutes it: any thing else is just blue sky thinking . As an aside I am nether Republican nor Democrat... I am (the last time I cheeked) human.

Regards to you.
