It's all procedural. These are the same clouds used in this image (http://nvseal.deviantart.com/art/Seems-Familiar-74118930). Thanks fo the comments.  :)

Edit: BTW, I was looking through my collection of reference images today and found this. While the clouds look better (after all, they are real) the colors did strike me as a bit familiar  ;D.

Guess I'm confused.  You say they are the same clouds as in another image, but that they are procedural.  Does that mean that you used the same procedures to generate the base clouds and then you morphed those with some kind of node(s)?

I just used the same nodes by saving them as a tgc and importing them into another file.

Wow.  This last one is terrific.  I'm starting to think of ideas for a story.   ;D
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

:D I only wish. I've made some changes and intend on rendering the next version over night. I have high hopes that this next one will start to come close to that real image. The test render looks rather promising.

Here is the next one. I made some changes to the colors of some of the cloud layers and that was a mistake. It makes it look like there is too much contrast. So I'll be fixing that...

Seth

very realistic !
very close to the Earth picture you posted sooner !
bravo

Bidmaron

I don't see the problem you're talking about

rcallicotte

I see what you mean, nvseal, but it didn't keep you from getting very close to the original reference.
