Hi Peoples, probably no one remembers me

Im back playing with our favourite program after many years away (experimenting with having a life?)  I have been enticed back and did the upgrade to TG2Deep edition over the weekend.

Whoever wrote the "How to create your first TG2 image" document deserves an award because they made it really easy to understand, and the more I fiddled the more I remembered about what I was trying to achieve, and it was fun!

For your delectation, my first image is here:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/thebluerose/2434912376/

I hope to have many more, and of ever increasing skill and ability!

Hi, BlueRose.  Thanks for letting us see your first work.  Pretty good, though could use a little more fractalization.

Welcome to the Planetside forums.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

BlueRose

thx, I tried to get a rock layer on top of the dirt layer and limit it to higher alititude, but im not quite sure how to gauge how high my terrain was, so cant see a lot of rock on the tops of the pointy bits.

Looking forward to more playing !

Like Cyber Angel said, welcome to the forums and not bad work keep it up.
The world is round... so you have to use spherical projection.

Thanks Will,

Though I hadn't  posted in this thread, but Calico did. I agree it is a nice image.

;D

Regards to you.

Looks very nice for a first image.

A nice help for the altitude problem you had is the 3D preview. If you hold you cursor on the spot you want to have your edge, below the window you can see the coordinates. The y value is the height, you can use that value in the altitude constraints.

Welcome back, and have fun!
Howgh!

Pretty render, beautiful impression of depth. Surfaces are already well distributed what is not obvious. Beautiful ground. Surface chestnut misses layers in my opinion, but it is a first image successful with TG2 (you are not a beginner!)

Thankyou all for the supportive comments, esp lightning - I worked hard on getting the lighting right, I was aiming for an early morning sunrise effect  ( I miss the old way of doing it so you could see from on high where the sun was in relation to the camera and the terrain)

Also appreciate the tips, and I have printed out more of the very helpful Help Files to master the next steps.  This weekend is a 3 day one, and I hope to dedicate some time to TG
