Beautiful work, Ryan!  This is one of your best images ever!

For me, I think the wind blown look to the snow is the stand out feature on this image - it looks freakin' fantastic!

The snow itself looks as if there is some sub surface scattering effect going on (even though there is not).

The lighting looks great, but something still looks "off" to me, and I can't figure it out.  However, I know how difficult this is to get right.

The rocks and background sky look a bit on the noisy side (also hard to correct in TG2), but this doesn't mean the image doesn't shine!

Keep images like this coming!  Can't wait to see more.   8)

I like the second image, the background is superb!

Good improvement with the rocks and the snow or ice is even better. It's stunning.

I think I know what you mean here.... The background mountain and the largely lighted parts of the snow give the impression there's a lot of backlight in this images which makes the lighting appear/look 'flat'.

Something like that?

this is pretty darn amazing!!!!
i love the foreground snow its so realistic not just the texturing but the lightning as well
would you be able to provide the tgd please i really want to know how you did that!!!

Thanks for the comments everyone.  Here is the Final "Final" image... if there is such a thing.  Reworked the mountain rock to be less noisy while increasing the displacement detail.  Most other things stayed the same.

Thanks for all the suggestions to make this a better image.

Phylloxera

Just a small reproach, the rock is too smooth that decreases realism!

MacGyver

It's getting better and better :D
For your Final³ Version you could perhaps consider to render a higher resolution ;D

I think I have an idea what is missing.  There is no atmospheric effects to add a sense of volume or depth.  I think this would bring the image up from fantastic to "blown away!"   8)

I have liked this since the first version.  I agree that the lighting looks a little flat but that's natural given the positions of sun and camera.  For me the second version is favourite, I prefer the rocks and the clincher is the slightly lower contrast in the sky.  The clear atmosphere looks right to me.
