This image is totally different from what I usually do
. It began as an attempt to imitate the forest from the movie Advent Children (say what you will about the plot and script, you can't deny that the CG in that movie is incredible). It still holds fairly true to that effort, but this is definitely an attempt to create a more artistic and stylized image along with a few surreal elements instead of my normal attempts towards photorealism.
There is more postwork than usual done through Photoshop, mainly because I wanted to work with it in HDR. That helped somewhat, but I still feel that the image isn't as balanced as it could be, and I don't have the Photoshop skills (or the time to develop them at the moment) to bring it to that level. If anyone wants to give it a shot, drop me a PM and I'll send you the .exr file.
