Hi Harv,
Always nice to see some new posters. I think this is a great "first" image no matter how many transformations it has been through. Here is a whole bunch of feedback to keep you going:
1. I would say that the trees are much larger than they should be. I would suggest that you scale them down dramatically, and at the same time decrease the spacing between the trees by quite a bit. This will help increase the visual scale of the mountains.
2. You may also want to increase the size of your population bounding box, as you can see on the right hand side that you hit the cutoff before the edge of the image.
3. Add a couple more variations to the trees. I know that Lightning recently posted a free pine tree that would enhance this by helping the forests look a little more dynamic.
4. The mountain shapes are very nice but the textures are screaming out for some variation in colour and tone. Additional surface layers and powerfractals should be able to help you with this.
5. Perhaps a little cliche but a nice partial or full moon could enhance the sky quite nicely.
Overall the image has a great mood and ambiance and I definitely hope to see what else you come up with both with this image and your future projects.
