Call the Monopolies Commission!!!!!

18 years of using Softimage and now I feel sullied.

We'll probably have that stoopid cube in every window now. They've also gone and immediately fired shedloads of people.
Some bits and bobs
The Galileo Fallacy, 'Argumentum ad Galileus':
"They laughed at Galileo. They're laughing at me. Therefore I am the next Galileo."

Nope. Galileo was right for the simpler reason that he was right.

Wow, talk about buying people out! That's crazy and rather unfortunate.

It's too bad that companies are allowed to get that big.  Useless comes to mind.  And in a hurry.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

One wonders what they'll do with 3 similarly-featured general-purpose 3D apps under one roof. Of course I didn't expect them to keep 3DS Max and Maya together when they made that acquisition.  :P

not something else ::) i think it's a bad idea having all those apps under one roof has autodesk actuallt written there own software from scratch or have they all been purchased from other companys i know 3dsmax maya mudbox and now softimage products have what about autocad did they build that from scratch?

Oshyan

Autocad was their original product along with, I think, 3DS Max. Actually apparently they only published Max initially. They later bought it. But at least they were involved from the beginning. ;) And at the time it was their only general-purpose 3D app. Now they have 3.  :P

This will be interesting, because the way these two work, are very different. I know in the end, they both can make a black cat.

Don't worry, Microsoft and Corel have been doing this for the last 15 years that I know of  >:( 3 3D apps is a bit greedy though  ;D

It was disappointing to hear this and I have been keeping up with it at http://www.xsibase.com/. Here is a YouTube video on the takeover - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kR7UWImpG54

Thanks Glen.

Well as an AutoCad draftsman I can't say that I am disapointed,
Perhaps some future releases of AutoCad will have some very kool 3d tools.  8)
Hmmm... wonder what this button does....
