Objects Placement - Feature Request

Since it's so hard to place single objects exactly where you want
them in Terragen 2 I just had an idea of how to make this a lot better.

We should have an option to make the objects in the preview window display as a b-box, but with a solid color. Also whenever the object for example hits the ground the color gets cut of with the shape of the terrain. It would also be nice if we could make the color a little transparent.

I hope this made any sense. If not, I also made two super cool illustrations in paint that may explain it a little better ::)
The first image shows us how it is today and the second is what I'd like it to be.

Oh.  Now I see.  Need to think about it...but, I see Planetside is already taking notes.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Sorry about that calico. I guess I was a little eager and posted the thread long before it was finished. Heh, but it's finished now.

Great idea, but I'd rather see "drop to ground" feature. I believe it won't be hard in implementation as populations can do it at the moment.

I would also like a drop to ground feature, but why not both?
It would be a lot easyer to understand the preview window instead of all those b-boxes :)

We should also be able to choose colors of course. That way my trees could be green and my rocks could be grey or something.

I'm sure I remember someone saying a drop to ground for single objects will get added at some point. Also I believe that more advanced viewing options will get added to the preview window as well instead of just bounding box.

Better handling of individual object placement is definitely needed. We'll be looking at these ideas and more when we put time into this area in the future.

I use drop to ground for all my objects:
Set up a population where you want the object.  Make its area .5m and the population density 1/m.  If you do any elevation adjustment fo the object do that in the object itself.
