Hi, Not posted anything lately (been put off by the paucity of comments), but thought this was worthy and might spark some interest.
The main aim was to get a good mud texture which I think is o.k.
The pattern in the mud reminded me of tracks of some kind and I remembered about this old turtle model, and thought it would go quite nicely into the scene. A bit of mud on the flippers was added pp.
Some veg perhaps? if so any recommendations?
Comments welcome

I love this just as it is.  For suggestions to make this brilliant, I'd suggest leaving it simple like this, get a lower angle and then messing about with the lighting until it looks sensational.

GREAT JOB.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

alot of awesome details here...keep at it...deserves more comments!

Mighty good mud, and that turtle's shell texture is beautiful.  I agree with the POV Calico suggested and perhaps even add a population of little turtles entering the water. Could you descibe what it took to make that mud so real and wet looking?

Kevin F

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm rendering a new low POV at the moment - cheers Calico.
@arisdemos -the mud is very very simple really just a basic colour range with a reflective shader for the wet look. The important thing is the terrain which gives a nice ridged effect and which suits the colour/lighting so well. I think this terrain was made with Geocontrol, but I'm not sure.
I've attached a copy of the TDG and will load the .ter if anybody wants it?

Kevin.

I think its awesome how it is ;D The mud surface is exceptional

I agree with Calico about the angle and lighting.  It's awesome already, but I think it would look neat the way he said to do it.  Entirely up to you of course ;)

Thanks again for the positive feedback.
Here's an update with new POV etc.

Do you have SS turned on? shadows seem very harsh.

Hey Kevin, this looks great. The only thing I can think of is to attach a power fractal or two to the brown of the neck, to give it that aged look.

rcallicotte

What!?  You gave us the TGD?!  Groovy!

I like this last version a lot better.  I like the color across the terrain as well.  Nice lighting...again.

...and I agree with Mandrake.

Here's a new version with modified neck.
and @reck, yes SS is turned on at default values, and I thought the same as you. I might try another with higher vaues.
