OK, I was the one who posted the other version of this question. I have seen your answers and have a few questions. Bear in mind I am probably being very dim.... If I turn the slope constraints off in the distribution shader my fake stones render fine, how the hell do I limit the slope the stones will be seen on?

?
Moodflow, where are the "final normal" to "terrain normal" selection? In what shader? cause they arent in the distribution shader
MeltingIce, you say to use a surface shader, not a distribution shader... which one, there are a load of surface shaders, and I haven't yet managed to find one with altitude and slope constraints (though I admit I haven't tried all of them)
This is driving me mad. I can get stones where I want them, but they wont render correctly, or I can get them to render correctly, but loose the ability to restrict the slope they will render on.... doh!!!
